Introduction
Information and Communication Technology teaches students how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge through the use of several computer programs. Building on this knowledge and understanding students are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate and are able to use and express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology.
Teaching
The general teaching in KS3 teaches students how to use ICT responsibly, confidently and creatively therefore it is divided into 2 sections:
ICT Theory
Students will study various technologies, hardware, software, networking, databases, E-Commerce and understand computer systems in general.
ICT Practical
Students will learn how to design and program websites through graphic and web authoring software. They will also learn Microsoft office programs (word, excel, access, powerpoint)
Why study ICT at XIC?
The ICT course here at Xabia International College has been designed to fully equip students with real life computer skills both knowledge and software based.
Computer literacy is a very important part of every day life so by using the latest industry based tools we are giving the students the best possible start in a vastly growing digital environment.
Students will learn how to use all Microsoft based software as well as graphic design, video editing, animation tools and web site development.
The learning completed during Key stage 3 adequately prepares students who intend to go onto to complete a GCSE and A Level qualification in this subject.
